Women grabs stranger off street in foiled murder
and identity theft plot

Ohio: Trial opens today in a very bizarre case of
attempted murder against Tonica Jenkins and her cousin
Kyle Martin. The pair snatched Melissa Latham off the
streets with the intent of killing her, burning her body
and then having Tonica assume her identity. The pair went
to great lengths - even taking the victim to the dentist
to have x-rays taken. As we all know, dental records are
one of the major ways to identity a burned body if the
facial features or fingerprints are not available.
The attempt failed when the victim, now 29,escaped.

Common household chemicals used in Id theft scheme

One town in Southern California has seen a rash of 
checks being stolen from the unsuspecting - then, by
using common household chemicals, the id thieves would
"Acid-wash" the checks. Once the checks were dry, the
thugs would write new amounts, change the
pay-to-the-order-of information, cash them, and be gone
slipping into the night.

Social Security card stolen

A man had his social security number stolen, and the id
crook used that number to get employment as one of the
new Transportation and Safety Administration (TSA)
airport security officers.
